About Us

Leading Strings Preschool was established in 1990 and has been under new ownership since 2022. It is registered and regulated by Ofsted.

We offer places for the 3-4 year old 15 hours funding and the additional 30 hours for working parents for 2 and 3 year old's. Please enquire within the setting for more information.

We are part of the Enfield Early Years Development Childcare Partnership which links us with local schools and preschools. This also provides us with teacher involvement within the group and regular training opportunities.

Key workers

Our pre-school has a key worker system. This means each member of staff has a group of children for whom she is particularly responsible. Your child’s key worker will liaise with you to ensure that we provide for your child’s particular needs and interests; carrying out their observations and assessments; planning their next steps.

Uniform

We carry a stock of sweatshirts and T shirts which we encourage parents to purchase as they give the children a sense of ownership and belonging.
Parents are requested to dress their children practically for play and comfort. Top layer clothes such coats/jumpers/shirts/cardigans need to be labelled to avoid confusion and loss.
We provide protective clothing for the children when they are taking part in messy play.

Behaviour

We firmly believe and advocate that positive praise will encourage good behaviour. We support our children in understadning why we have rules and expectations (Promoting British Values) and always talk through what has happened; how it could have made someone feel, how it could have be different, so children can reflect on this. Please see our Behaviour Management Policy

Open weeks

We hold open weeks during the year, one per term usually, when parents/carers are invited into the setting to play with their child, meet their friends and to communicate with staff regarding their child’s development, learning and interests.

Our Mission Statement

Our children's voices are heard and displayed throughout the pre-school; we value and respect what they have to say, as it is their pre-school and their learning journey. We want to develop their independence and life skills through challenging and engaging experiences which we plan from their interests and needs.

All staff are expected to obtain their full Paediatric First Aid and Child Protection training when working with us. They all have DBS clearance.

Policies

All of our policies are available in a folder in our lobby or can be emailed to you at any time.

Equal opportunities

At Leading Strings we believe that every child should be encouraged to develop and learn without prejudice. We value and respect all cultures, nationalities and languages and promote diversity.

Special Needs

As part of our pre-school's policy we ensure that the provision meets the needs of each individual child.  At Leading Strings, every child matters and is viewed as equals. We carefully and considerately take into account any special need that a child may have, making appropriate and necessary steps to integrate them as fully as possible. We work closely with parents/carers and any other professionals involved to support the child as best we can.

We have a nominated SENCO at the preschool and follow the SEND Code of Practice, 2014

We aim

To promote the emotional development of your child’s self esteem and sense of achievement...

  • by providing a safe and secure environment
  • by developing confidence
  • by encouraging them to express their feelings

We also aim to develop an awareness of cultures other than their own.

Our Ethos

Our children learn through their play, in an enabling environment, which is then enhanced through positive relationships with our adults.
